Indiscriminate Light: Why a Unified Reality Requires Contrast
In the consciousness-only model of reality, there is not a separate entity or deity who sits on a throne, weighing human actions against a rulebook. The fundamental substance is awareness, the singular, dimensionless presence that constitutes all things. If awareness constitutes all things, how can anything be rejected? No ontological outside exists where a rejected element could possibly reside. In this way, awareness says yes to everything. Awareness is the canvas for the entire spectrum of experience, whether that be heaven or hell. Only the mind, operating as a localized contraction of singular awareness, has the capability to say no.
But if awareness is neutral, does behavior matter? And is the suffering of the world an error to be fixed?
This text explores the premise that while the reality of awareness holds no preference—acting as the ground in which all preferences appear—the dynamic unfolding exhibits an inherent harmony and serves a specific purpose.
