Why are some prayers answered while others are not?

Traditional theology often treats prayer as a negotiation with an external distributor, suggesting that an outside entity weighs moral virtue or measures earnestness to determine which requests to grant. Such a view relies on a fundamental separation between the petitioner and the requested outcome. If reality operates as a cosmic judge delivering experiences from afar, the foundational nature of existence remains divided, and the supplicant acts merely as a separate negotiator trying to extract favorable conditions from an external system.

From the standpoint of undivided awareness, no fundamental gap separates the petitioner, the prayer, and the unfolding of the world. The internal psychological space and the external physical order are not two distinct domains acting upon one another, nor is the physical world a mechanical mirror that automatically rewards or punishes private moods. Rather, subjective experience and objective circumstance are continuous expressions of a single, indivisible consciousness. When a plea arises purely from a hardened sense of separation, the request remains bound within the friction of that contraction. The physical surroundings do not punish the individual for feeling lack; instead, the inward sense of isolation and the outward experience of resistance are experienced together as a single posture of contracted awareness.

A shift occurs when a plea born from deep desperation reaches the end of isolated self-effort. When a localized perspective exhausts its attempt to control outcomes through willpower alone, the rigid boundary of self-sufficiency reaches a breaking point. The softening of the contraction is already the spontaneous grace of the whole drawing the finite perspective beyond its isolation. In that moment of genuine surrender, prayer ceases to be a demand issued from a state of separation and becomes an open alignment with the totality of being.

As undivided awareness relaxes its localized contraction, the boundary between the inner life and the wider field of reality softens. This inward realignment participates directly in how experience unfolds. At times, this shift coincides with a tangible reorganization of outward events; at other times, the shift reveals an unshakeable wholeness in the midst of difficulty. In either case, no distant entity delivers a reward from the outside, nor does the individual mind manipulate the universe through a psychological technique. The softening of the heart and the unfolding of the world emerge together as the single, seamless activity of consciousness recognizing its own unity. ●
